When using sisal as a rug, we strongly recommend placing a quality rug protection pad between the sisal backing and your flooring. Because sisal features a firm latex backing, direct contact can trap grit or cause friction against hard floors, leading to unexpected wear or discoloration over time. Using an underlay prevents slippage, provides extra cushioning, and acts as a protective barrier to keep both your flooring and your new sisal rug looking pristine.
